RISON – After a couple of rainy starts to kicking off this year’s Food Truck Friday event series, the organizers are taking a different approach for the summer months.
Beginning Friday, June 6, the event will be held every other Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pioneer Village in conjunction with the Rison Farmers Market.
Food Truck Friday is a partnership event between Rison Shine Community Development and the Pioneer Village and is scheduled to run through August.
“Initially we tried to replicate what we did last year, but with an earlier start,” said Douglas Boultinghouse, a representative for both organizations.
“The more our volunteers discussed strategies to address the rainy spring washouts, or the lower-attended fall events, we decided to put our focus on the summer season.”
With this shift to the schedule, it allows for the event to happen more frequently, which accommodates the Rison Farmers Market to have a more regular location to set up.
The Rison Farmers Market will offer free vendor space for produce, crafts and more.
“We encourage anyone with produce to come set up this summer at the Pioneer Village every other Friday,” Boultinghouse said. “This also extends to makers of food items under the Food Freedom Laws, crafters and more.”
Vendor space at the market is free, but spaces are limited.
Those interested should email risonshines@gmail.com in advance to confirm space, and also provide information to have their items advertised in promotions for the market.
The Food Truck Friday and Farmers Market events will feature two to three food trucks each week, live entertainment and market vendors.
