Reindeer Dash 5K & 1-Mile Walk/Run
The first event of the day will be the Reindeer Dash 5K/1-Mile Walk and 1-Mile Race for Kids. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the 5K set to being at 8:30 a.m. and the 1-mile walk/1-mile kids race at 8:45 a.m.

Breakfast With Santa
Enjoy pancakes, sausage, milk and juice with Santa Claus from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the indoor stage area at the Pioneer Village. Gray said this will be a “come-and-go” event, which means you can show up at any time during the two-hour window. The cost is $5 per person for both children and adults. Santa will stick around for pictures and more fun with the kids.
Gingerbread House Contest
There is no registration fee and cash prizes provided by the Cleveland County Herald will be awarded to the top two finishers in each division. There will be three divisions for this year’s contest: Pre-Built Ages 12 and Under; Pre-Built Ages 13-18; and entries built the day of the event during The Call of Cleveland County Gingerbread House Workshop to be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those entering either of the pre-built contests must submit their entries by 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in Building 1 at the Pioneer Village. Those building gingerbread houses during The Call Workshop will be included at the contest at the completion of the workshop. The winner from each category will receive $40 while the runner-up will get $25. The winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m.
Holiday Photography Mini Sessions
Douglas B Design is offering a limited number of sessions throughout the morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the last session at 10:45 a.m. This will be a great opportunity for photos of the kids, families, couples, friends… you name it! Walk-up opportunities will be available if the schedule permits. Call/Text 870-510-2433 or message on Facebook to schedule your session in advance to guarantee a slot! Sessions are currently being booked! This year’s theme is an old-fashioned Christmas inside the McMurtrey House by the fireplace.
Pioneer Village Open House
The historic buildings, many dating back to the 1800’s, will be decorated for Christmas and open for tours throughout the day. There will be free hot chocolate and hot apple cider along with Christmas cookies at the McMurtrey House. T-Shirts, treats and other items will be for sale in the Mercantile.
Cleveland County Cares Christmas Bingo
Beginning at 2 p.m. Melinda McKnight will host a Christmas Bingo event for the Cleveland County Cares mission.
The mission provides gifts and meals to families who need support or assistance throughout the holiday season.
The bingo event is open for all ages to play for donation of $1 or more per game.
Prizes will include holiday treats such as baked goods and crafts.
Additional items will be available for purchase or in a silent auction to benefit Cleveland County Cares.
Additional Activities
Old-fashioned Christmas games and crafts will be held throughout the day in various parts of the Village.
The Rison Band Boosters will be set up with concessions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. including BBQ sandwiches, BBQ nachos, nachos, chips, candy and drinks.
Cleveland County Community Theater Christmas Jamboree
The Cleveland County Christmas Jamboree will conclude the day’s festivities starting at 6:30 p.m. The Christmas-themed variety show is named after the popular “Other Days” section of the Cleveland County Herald since the show will center around local events from Christmases past. Shae Carson will be directing the show that will include musical acts, skits and comedy. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Cleveland County Herald office, 215 Main Street in downtown Rison.
