Pioneer Village, Rison Shine Unite for Food Truck Fridays

RISON – The Pioneer Village and Rison Shine are partnering to launch a series of Food Truck Fridays throughout the summer.

The first event will launch Friday, June 21 with subsequent events set for the third Friday each month through September.

For the month of June, featured trucks will be Twistin’ Copper Kitchen and Cheesecake on Point.
Twisted Copper Kitchen will offer burgers, brisket, pulled pork, po’boys, loaded nachos, mac and cheese and more.

Cheesecake on Point will offer a variety of flavors of cheesecake in personal size options.

Food trucks are expected to be available from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Village, located at 200 Yaney Drive.

Live Music

The first month of the series will also feature entertainment from musical duo Brian and Laura from 5 to 7 p.m. bringing together the best of country and classic rock. Comprised of Brian Mullen and Laura Caroline, they met competing against each other in 2009 and quickly became good friends.

Laura Caroline, a singer with a heart for country gospel, has been performing since the age of four. Originally from Kingsland, her heartfelt delivery brings an authentic country charm to every performance.

Brian Mullen has a rock edge with his love for classic rock and country hits. After spending several years performing in Nashville, he moved back to his home state where he plays numerous venues for his loyal fanbase.

The entertainment is free to attend, but donations to the Pioneer Village and Rison Shine’s Food Truck Friday fund are appreciated.

“Our hope is if these Food Truck Fridays build momentum through the summer, we will be able to increase the number of trucks each month and continue it through fall,” the two organizations under Kickstart Cleveland County Community Development shared in a joint statement.

Free Market Space

Organizers of the new Food Truck Fridays have announced that free vendor space will be available for those wanting to sell produce, cottage foods or just about anything else during the event.

In essence, organizers said the new market will essentially replace the Rison Farmers Market that was held Thursday evenings during the summer months in FBT Community Park in downtown Rison. While the Rison Farmers Market was primarily for those selling produce and cottage foods, the Food Truck Friday market will also be open to those selling other products as well. All vendors will be set up outside, and will need to bring their own table, chairs and canopy, if desired.

For planning purposes, anyone interested in being a vendor for the June 21 event is encouraged to send an email to risonshines@gmail.com listing their name, contact phone number and description of what they will be offering. (Please note the “s” behind Rison Shine in the email address).
