RISON – Rison Shine is pleased to announce the return of the Third Annual Rison Paws For A Cause Dog Pageant to the Rison in the Fall Festival set for Saturday, Oct. 15.
“The pageant was designed to benefit the local animal rescue and provide entertainment to festival attendees,” said Festival Organizer Douglas Boultinghouse.
He said the event has become one of the highlights of the festival and draws a large crowd to FBT Community Park on Main Street.
This year’s pageant will begin at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Festival entertainers country artists Julie Roberts and Erin Enderlin are set to judge this year’s pageant.
Check-in/registration will begin at 2 p.m. at the Paws For A Cause booth on Main Street directly in front of the park. Owners of four-legged participants will be required to sign a waiver upon entering.
“We request that only dog and people-friendly animals be entered,” said Rhonda Fletcher, the rescue’s secretary and pageant organizer.
There is a $20 entry fee per dog entered into the pageant. Dogs will participate in the categories of Best Dressed, Congeniality, and People’s Choice.
A photogenic contest is also open for a $5 fee per photo entered.
New this year is a separate photogenic contest for cats.
“We have rescued so many cats this year in Paws For A Cause,” said Fletcher. “We wanted to expand the pageant to let our feline friends participate too.”
